2005

The Club held its Members 100 Bird DTL shoot on Saturday 2nd April on what turned out to be a glorious day. It was only one of very few days that shooters could don their dark shooting glasses making a big change from woolly hats, coats and gloves.
The first line began shooting at 11:30 in time for members to all shoot 50 targets before lunch and check the scores at the half way stage. Kenny Irvine was on top spot at this stage with 25/74 and 24/70 to lead with 49/144. Second spot was being tightly contested for with Matt Smyth on 24/69 and 24/70 with Stephen Irvine scoring 23/67 and 25/72 to both be on 48/139. The rest of the shooters were not too far behind with many bunched up in the 120 and 130 point range. The top five shooters behind the winner would gain entry to a new trophy called the ‘Busby’, so there was still plenty to shoot for.
In the final 50 targets Kenny dropped a second bird and had a second barrel on his 3rd line while nearest rivals Matt and Stephen dropped only a few points to keep the pressure on going into the last line. Kenny held his nerve on the last 25 with only two second barrels to leave Matt and Stephen with second and third to be fought for. Matt took second place with a point more than Stephen on each line.

Finishing places as follows:
1st   Kenny Irvine    98/288
2nd  Matt Smyth      96/281
3rd  Stephen Irvine  96/279

The Busby Shoot
All Club members shot particularly well and with fourth to sixth place qualifying for the shoot off with second and third, it made the end of the day very exciting.
4th   Keith Edgar
5th   Andrew Annett
6th   RJ Cousins

The single barrel shoot off was between Matt Smyth, Stephen Irvine, Keith Edgar, Andrew Annett & RJ Cousins. After the 25 birds Stephen & Andrew could not be separated hitting 24 from 25 targets. A further shoot off of 10 targets were needed with Andrew coming out on top.

The Club held a Members 100 Bird DTL shoot on Saturday 3rd April. With some heavy rain early in the day it brightened up for the start of shooting at 1pm.
Everyone completed 50 birds over 2 no. 25 bird lines and then stopped to count the scores and see who was leading at the half way stage and for a quick burger. Andrew Annett and David Megaw were tied on both birds and points at 49/145. Kenny Irvine and RJ Cousins were close behind on 47/138 and 45/135 respectively.
At the final count after the 100 Birds had been completed it finished with Andrew Annett returning an impressive score of 97/286 for first place. David Megaw held on to second place with 94/279 followed by RJ Cousins one point behind on 94/278 as he made a late surge on the last 50 birds.
